Cultures of AI
Luciana Parisi, Mark Hansen
Description from DukeHub
Cultures of AI explores technology from a humanities perspective. The humanities perspective focuses on how technology impacts human life, culture, and society and, reciprocally, how human life, culture, and society shape technology. Drawing on methods from critical theory, continental philosophy, political theory, feminist theory, Black studies, media theory, social theory, the philosophy of technology, and historical analysis, the course situates contemporary AI within longer histories of technological change, colonialism, capitalism, race, gender, and labor.
