History of the Interpretation of the Gospel of John
Kevin Hart
Description from DukeHub
This seminar seeks to read the Gospel of John by way of commentaries of major Christian theologians. These can vary from one section to another, but past figures have included Origen, Augustine, and Aquinas. Throughout the course, we will be asking: What do these exegetes say about the Gospel of John? How do they differ from one another and why? What can we learn today from patristic and medieval commentary on the fourth gospel?
