Research Methods in Writing Studies
Charlotte F. Asmuth
Description from DukeHub
This seminar introduces students to research methods in writing studies, a discipline that treats writing as both an activity and a subject of study. Students will practice methods for studying texts, people, places, and writing technologies, including archival research, discourse analysis, corpus analysis, experimental design, interviews, and surveys. Through hands-on exercises, reading sample research studies, and conducting research of their own, students will learn to develop research questions, collect and analyze data, and navigate the ethics of research with human participants.
