Africa Now!
Khwezi Mkhize
Description from DukeHub
Artificial Intelligence. The museum. The humanities. Sovereignty. Home(lessness). Art. The anthropocene. All of these terms describe the challenge of humanexistence in our contemporary moment. What does thinking about these terms from an African perspective mean and look like? With a focus on some of the major interventions in film, the arts, design, philosophy, and thought, this course explores this question. Students will engage with leading contemporary scholarship, artists and designers working on these issue. Reading and discussion will be an essential component of the course. The course also encourages students to develop and creatively explore their own creative practices in and around these issues.
